Improving filtration on High Velocity GT Filter houses with MAGNUM XLM

Improving filtration on High Velocity GT Filter houses with MAGNUM XLM

Many GT applications suffer from very high air flow velocity - especially these are seen on Off-Shore applications and smaller size aeroderivate Gas turbines packages.

High air speed is effecting the GT performance in several ways:

  • High dp over filters thus reducing the GT output and filter service life
  • Reducing the filtration efficiency of the filters thus allowing more air borne contaminants to reach the compressor and degradate the GT performance. Especially the small salt crystals are making their way though the filters when operating in high velocity conditions.
  • Water is more likely to get through the filters

To eliminate the problem the GT operators have only two ways of correcting the high Velocity problems

  1. Increase the size of the filter house to fit more filters into the house reducing the air velocity
  2. Increase the surface area of the filters to reduce the face velocity of the filters

Technically it is not possible in many applications to enlarge the filter house - at least without major modifications - so most Customers are looking at increasing the filtration surface to reduce the negative effects of High Velocity filtration.

Eagle Filters is presenting our solution to the High Velocity filter house problems by introducing MAGNUM XLM. It fits to standard 50mm/2" railing increasing the filtration surface thus reducing the air velocity offering improved filtration results, reduced dp and better protection against salt and water.

To have the details of MAGNUM XLM you can have a look at our new brochure below - or contact me if that is more convenient - and let us help you Protecting your GT performance, even in High Velocity conditions.
