Improving diagnosis of oral mucosal disorders in dermatology

Many dermatologic and systemic disorders manifest in the oral mucosa, yet training in this area is limited. Dermatologists should include oral exams in routine evaluations to address this gap. Part I of this CME series reviews normal oral anatomy, offers a step-by-step guide for dermatologic oral exams, and provides instructions for performing oral biopsies.
