Have you ever asked yourself this question:
“How often do I engage in activities that if I could, I would choose to fast forward?”
For example, do you spend a lot of your day wishing for it to be 5pm?
Do you spend some of your week wishing for it to be Friday?
Do you get impatient while travelling? Wishing your flight would just arrive already?
What is your general attitude while commuting and waiting for things?
This is a great way to measure your overall life satisfaction.
The more you engage in activities you would rather fast forward, the lower your life satisfaction will be.
And as you only get the one life, maybe you should do something about this?
The most obvious place to start is by reducing how much you engage in these activities.?
Could you maybe change jobs? Could you work more from home? Could you travel less??
If you can, that's great! But unfortunately it’s not always an option.
Some activities you won’t be able to change.
Some of them might even be good for you in the long run (Working out, starting a business etc.)?
But what you can always change however is your attitude towards these activities.
And a very simple way of doing this is by changing one word.

Instead of saying:?
Start saying:
This tiny shift is very powerful and empowering because it takes you out of the victim mindset and makes you the creator of your experience.?
It also brings in an element of gratitude and is a great way to remind yourself of how lucky you are to even be doing any of these things.
Remember: the probability of you being born is 1 in 400 trillion.
Make sure you make the most of this insane luck you have.?
So next time you find yourself doing something you would rather fast forward:
Either take steps towards reducing that activity or change your attitude while doing it.?
Life is too short for you to want to fast forward it.
Much love,
Alex

1 年That’s a radical question to ask there Alex “How often do I engage in activities that if I could, I would choose to fast forward?” Never considered that before! Thanks for getting me to think. Sheila Ellian Lewis along the lines of your newsletter ask last week - moving from “I need to” to “I get to!” Pretty transformational when we shift that perspective
