Improve your Image

Visual communication is often misunderstood. But I know you have a sense of what's good, what you like and then what's better if viewed side by side as a comparison. What I often see is, small businesses making do. Thinking it's OK to not have professionally produced imagery. But imagine the impact on the viewers perception, that's what matters. How the audience rate your service will influence how who will interact with your business. Are you hitting the target you want?

The first image, if seen alone might be perfectly acceptable to you but you know pic 2 is better. Pic 2 demonstrates professionalism, not because there is a tie on the man but because the image has good lighting. It's not flat, it stands out from the background, there's no mugshot shadow. 

So here's your challenge Take a look at two very different websites in your industry, one you identify as highly successful and the other you think needs work, and sets a low standard.

• What elements influence these impression for you? Layout, copy, image quality...
• How does their use of images sway your judgment?
• How easy is it to ascertain the value of each of these sites just by their images choice and quality?

Then thinking about your own businesses imagery where is it placed?  Do your images support your copy and message? These elements need to be in sync to speak cohesively with your intended client.

You may need to revisit your message and vision. What does your business stand for? Who is your ideal client?

For example my business is all about helping my clients businesses thrive and grow. In everything I do and produce I ask myself, Does this work toward helping my ideal client improve their business and visual marketing messages?
