While I was busy relocating to a new place for work during last few months, I encountered a frequent problem: work-life balance. Of course, I had anticipated that any change in my personal life would bring up this issue. Given that there may be millions of individuals struggling to combine work and life for various reasons, I thought I'd provide a few tips to help us keep this good balance!
Balancing work and personal life can be difficult, but it is necessary for our physical, emotional, and mental health. Our ambition to succeed professionally might force us to put our own well-being on the back burner, but maintaining a healthy balance is also vital for our careers.
Wait! What exactly is work-life balance, and why is it so crucial?
Work-life balance is a state of equilibrium in which one prioritises one's professional and personal obligations. Less stress, a lesser danger of burnout, and a stronger sense of well-being are all benefits of this balance.
This does not imply an equal division of time between work and personal life, but rather the ability to get things done professionally while still having time and energy to enjoy personal life.
Some days we may work longer hours so we have time later in the week to enjoy other activities right!
Here are eight ways to create a better work-life balance:
1. Set goals and priorities (and stick to them)
Set attainable goals by using time management techniques, reviewing your to-do list, and eliminating things that are of little or no value.
Pay attention to when you are most effective at work and set aside that time for your most important tasks. Checking your email and phone every few minutes is a significant time-waster that detracts from your concentration and productivity. Organizing your day can help you be more productive at work, giving you more time to unwind outside of work.
2. Prioritize your health:
When you are physically, emotionally, and cognitively well, you will be happier and more productive!
Overworking oneself stops you from improving, and it may force you to take more vacation days in the future. Prioritizing your health does not need to entail radical or harsh measures. It could be anything as basic as regular meditation or exercise daily.
Work should not deplete your most valuable asset, your health!
3. Don’t be afraid to unplug:
Unplugging can be as simple as practicing transit meditation instead of checking work emails on your daily commute, or simply focusing on the simple task at hand with few thoughts!

Cutting ties with the outer world allows us to recover from weekly stress and creates space for new ideas and thoughts to develop. This was a technique I would conduct on a regular during my exam study leave as well where every Saturday would be break from my studies and go out. Also reading or listening to one song while walking in between two subjects.
4. Take a vacation:
We check emails even on weekends and rarely detach totally, so vacations are essential because they allow us to truly unplug and disconnect from work for a period of time. Whether your vacation consists of a one-day weekend staycation or a two-week trip to Bali, it's critical to take time off to physically and psychologically refresh.
Employees with unused vacation days at the end of the year are concerned that taking time off would interrupt the workflow and result in a backlog of work when they return. This concern should not prevent you from taking a well-deserved vacation. The advantages of taking a day off significantly than the disadvantages. Prepare ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
5. Make time for yourself and your loved ones
We forget that, while work is vital, it should not take up all of your time. You are an individual who should place a high value on the activities or hobbies that bring you joy. Work-life balance involves purposeful activity, such as setting aside time for personal activities.
You have total control over your time and life, no matter how crazy your schedule may be.
Make a calendar for romantic and family dates when organising time with your loved ones. Planning one-on-one time with someone you live with may seem strange, but it will ensure that you spend meaningful time with them without work-life conflict. Work keeps you busy, but that doesn't mean you should overlook your personal relationships. I make sure I have a video meet with my family atleast once in a day to know about our lives in different city despite hectic schedule!
6. Set boundaries and work hours.
To avoid burnout, set boundaries for yourself. Avoid taking work home with you when you leave the office, such as thinking about pending projects or responding to workplace emails. If you work from home, consider establishing a separate workspace so you can turn it off when you leave. When unplugged, turn off the notification as well.
It is critical to know when you should stop working, whether you work from home or no
7. Find a job that you love
Despite the fact that employment is an accepted societal standard, your career should not limit you. Simply said, if you despise what you do, you will not be happy. You don't have to enjoy every element of your job, but it should be interesting enough that you don't mind getting out of bed in the morning.
Find a career that you love so much that you'd do it for free. Something is a mess if your job drains you and you find it tough to do the activities you enjoy outside of work even after trying to manage things.
Lastly, when you hear "work-life balance" you probably envision a productive day at work followed by an early departure to spend the rest of the day with friends and family. While this appears to be the ideal situation, it is not always attainable. So, lets strive for a realistic schedule rather than a perfect one. You may devote more time and energy to work on some days, while having more time and energy to explore your interests or spend time with your loved ones on others. Balance is achieved over time rather than on a daily basis.
Hope we all attain a proper work-life balance and succeed well in our personal and professional life happily
