Impostors in no man's land...

Impostors in no man's land...

If you ever felt like an impostor, I'd like you to consider a thought on this. So many people ask me about this as it leaves them feeling uncomfortable, helpless even, and they start beating themselves up, and in the worst cases stopping their own progress. At certain times of our existence, naturally, we evolve into the next phases of our lives. At these times, we go through changes and we also must step into areas, roles and territories unknown to us. This requires us to move towards who we aim to become - and that person is not 'yet' the new 'us'.?

So this temporary phase can leave us feeling that we are in some sort of a middle ground, a no man's land, where we are no longer just our old selves we are used to, but we are also 'becoming' the 'new self'.?Without these phases, we would simply not be able to progress and grow. This subject is hardly addressed openly, as it deemed to be an uncomfortable subject for people to discuss and admit - although we overlook and forget that it is completely normal phase of growth and development.

In this process, we can have feelings that some literature refers to as feeling like an 'impostor' or in some other peoples' words or labels - fake.. not feeling like we belong 'yet'.

But I want you all to remember one thing. It is normal.

This feeling is mostly recognised and noticed by people with high self-awareness, in phases of change in their lives.

So when you are in a midst of change and development, be kind to yourself and understand that your self-talk and compassion towards your progress, including acknowledging and celebrating your achievements is really important part of making these changes.

Impostors - if we must label ourselves - we all are at some time, and we must be, in order to transform.?

You are not just who you are, but also, who you are becoming. Drop the labels, and move towards the change you are creating - and smile in the process.

Rather than labeling ourselves as impostors, it is more productive to view ourselves as individuals who are in a state of becoming. We are constantly evolving, learning, and adapting to new experiences and challenges. By letting go of self-doubt and embracing the journey of transformation, we can move forward with confidence and a positive mindset.

To add a reflection on impermanence: We are all constantly "becoming". We never "are".

Such simple yet relatable words Professor, I'm going to keep this - ‘Impostors - if we must label ourselves - we all are imposters at some time, and we must be, to transform I always treated it as a syndrome but never knew it could be a wonderful bridge!! ??
