Imposter Syndrome

‘Imposter Syndrome’ - More and more, when working with individuals and companies, is this phrase being identified as a mindset which prevents the opportunity of being at the very best in terms of delivery, performance and innovation.

2025 and if we interpret the financial statistics being fed to us, is going to be somewhat of a challenge and, might I suggest, the culmination of what may be in hindsight the perfect storm. ?If only a small percentage be correct, then fasten your seat belts as this will require the very best from all our people, teams and leaders if we are to thrive, or in some cases just survive.

This perfect storm is well underway with disruptive influences from all angles, from politics to corporate and personal financial distress. ?We can no longer ignore natural disasters caused by man’s mismanagement of his most precious resource “mother earth”. ?This ignorance is leading to severe climate change and devastation with such a negative effect on day-to-day lives and businesses. In other words, we’re being battered, physically, emotionally, financially and economically, reminding us of the fragility of our world’s current state, its economy and our ability to affect change at all levels.

This is not the time for individuals, teams and their leaders to have any doubts about their abilities to perform. ?In this brave new world where change is the only constant, capitalising in all the uncertainties and unknowns is where the corporate advantage is won or lost in 2025.

‘Imposter Syndrome’ is a belief and as we know, does not suggest it is routed in reality. ?In most cases it is developed from the speed of change and uncertainty that are bed fellows in this fast-moving world, due to the Neo-Cortex part of the brain which hasn’t had the time to build experiential layers of learning. ?In certain circumstances future needs and behaviours are then (mainly high pressure new experiences) unable to provide the reassurance in terms of thinking and behaviours, leading to doubt and fear of getting it right or even being good enough.

This feeling of insecurity is easily handled by creating a new ‘False Memory’ allowing the Neo-Cortex to adopt the new learnings in the belief that they have already taken place. ?These new learnings thereby become the norm and negate the ‘Imposter Syndrome’ effect, allowing the person/team to apply the new thinking, as though they had the appropriate experience and knowledge today, without fear of being found wanting in the experience locker.

A simple but clever way of allowing individuals and teams to gain artificial experience is ‘AI False Memory’ - before it has actually happened, thereby more able to deal with the unknown and new, which will be the norm to survive and thrive in 2025.

If you would like to find out more about ‘AI False Memory’ and its amazing benefits for yourself and your team regarding improved performance, please feel free to get in touch.

Hi Michael. This is a fantastic post and clearly answers the question of what is “Imposter Syndrome” and how to treat/manage it. I will share this with all I know. I want to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the journey you have brought me on, the life teachings you have shown and given me. You helped me during some very difficult times, particularly through Covid. I would like to thank you for your friendship - you are a special person with incredible talent, insight amd the ability to coach and guide others. ??????
