Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome

Almost on a daily basis, I get asked about what tools I use to help my clients overcome imposter syndrome. It’s a big problem that holds many women leaders back from achieving their goals and can cause significant stress.

Here’s the symptoms:

  • Feeling like you're not as talented or worthy as others
  • Fear of being exposed as a fraud
  • Attributing success to external factors like luck
  • Feeling compelled to overwork to compensate for perceived failures

  • Question you own thoughts. Is it really true that you aren’t qualified?
  • List your accomplishments and successes— keep them visible.
  • Create a counterforce of energy to your internal self doubt. For instance, you can use this affirmation: “When I lead with positivity and calmness, helpful people show up to aid my endeavors. I am capable.”

But the most powerful tool is having someone to talk to about your feelings.
