Impossible is not a Word

M3 ??Monday Morning Message – No. 730, May 20, 2024

I was listening to a song recently with lyrics that contained the phrase, “Impossible is not a word, it’s just a reason for someone not to try.” Surely there are things which are seemingly not possible, but in the context of a task you must accomplish or a challenge you are facing, seeing overcoming that task or challenge as “impossible” starts working against your ability to overcome it immediately. All too often the limitations we face relative to our ability to accomplish difficult challenges are those that we impose upon ourselves. As one author states, “Impossible is a word that isn’t used to uplift or help someone in any situation so why do we still use if it isn’t going to help or boost someone’s confidence?”

Starting your week or any task with the confidence that you not only can accomplish important or hard things, but that you will accomplish those things is a great place to start! If you work to keep negative attitudes or disqualifying, defeating thoughts from entering your thinking, you will be off to a good start. Likewise, it is important not to let other people’s negative judgement hinder you from achieving your goals. The most successful people believe they can accomplish anything, giving them a strong mindset and confidence to do just that and they do not listen to the negative people.

Remember, you are the one that determines your attitude at any given moment. No one else can do that for you! You might want to start this week by removing the word “impossible” from your vocabulary.
