Important thing you should know to succeed in job interviews
Having been in the industry for more than 5 years (which is not long, but definitely not too short), I have had a chance to meet with many tech candidates and had hundreds of tech interviews. And you know what I was able to observe? Not many candidates really see the importance of knowing themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i think the question of personal strengths and weaknesses has not been taken as seriously as it should have been.
Predominantly, it is not the answer that we the interviewers observe, it is how the candidates choose to answer it: how much one decides to open themselves up in the first meeting, and then how well one understands themselves.
Having the ability to identify our personal strengths and weaknesses through daily interaction with everything we do, is important. It helps to release our fears, for we know what and why things work or don't work on us. Knowing ourselves helps improve our daily performance or get better when listening to critical feedback given by our colleagues and managers, without losing our sense of worthiness. It helps us make wiser choices among many available options.
It is necessary that we constantly practice self-awareness through all kinds of interactions: daily work, reading, writing, discussing, exercising and everything else. And while doing that, we pay attention to what happens inside us and derive meaningful conclusions.
