Important Tax Figures for 2025

Many figures used in estate, financial and income tax planning have been updated for 2025, as they are indexed for inflation. The following are updated amounts that have been released thus far. This is a partial list and not meant to be inclusive of all updated figures, and all figures may change subject to future legislation.

Most increases are based on annualized changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) compiled by the Department of Labor, which tracks changes in the general cost of living. The LTC per diem, however, is based solely on the medical care component of the Index. From 1997, when indexing began, increases in the cost of medical care have outpaced other price measures.

Several provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 are scheduled to expire on December 31, 2025, which would bring transfer taxes and personal and trust/estate income taxes back to pre-2018 levels.
