An Important Note for Professional Speakers & Trainers

Remote/Virtual speaking is not bad. It’s not a disadvantage. It’s not of lesser value. In fact, it’s more valuable, scalable and a massive advantage for clients.
Make your case for value. To be honest, the speaking profession took a massive hit because most “professional speakers & trainers” are lousy marketers and even worst in communicating and demonstrating value to client [kind of, they give advice that they can’t follow].
Virtual/Remote Speaking is all about advantages [for both client and the speaker].
- The client has fewer expenses.
- The logistics are easier & cheaper.
- Access is exponential.
So, to professional speakers out there:
- Don’t compromise your fee – in fact raise it in proportion to access.
- Passionately look out for best practices. I’ve learned so much from Maestros like Sunil Gupta and others in terms of using the digital platform.
- Help your client to improve their technology platforms and make sure, you are equipped with the best too.
- Have demo remote session available online, and share it with clients who want to see how it works… Doing 30 demo sessions a month will only make you poor. That’s it. For clients asking you for a free demo, consider availing their service or product as demo. Learn from their response :)
- Gather testimonials and showcase them. It’s helpful.
Build on the value you deliver. Reducing your fee is proof that you are no good, or you doubt your competence to deliver value.
It’s your profession. Respect it.
Final word – always be generous. There are clients who really need help and they don’t have budgets. There are NGOs and other social / education sector organization who are struggling. Help them with your gifts.
BUT – remember, being generous is not the same as being exploited.
Do well. Change the world.

3 年Alhamdulillah, 2020 happened to be The Best Year in terms of revenue and profitability. Online sessions are more convenient, more profitable and more productive. Sohail Zindani your words on pricing and free demo sessions are so true. I started trainings in 2009. Never gave a demo session to any client. Free has no value.
