Introduction
We are writing to inform you about the recent updates to the Ukraine Extension Scheme, as per the Explanatory Memorandum to the Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules presented to Parliament on 17 July 2023 (HC 1496).
What Are The Changes?
As of 17 July 2023, the Ukraine Extension Scheme changes were made public. We understand that subject to the Parliamentary process, the Immigration Rules are expected to change this month.
The main changes include:
1) Ukrainian nationals who have obtained permission to enter or stay in the UK for any period between 18 March 2022 and 16 November 2023 are now eligible to apply to the Ukraine Extension Scheme. This allows them to obtain 36 months' permission to stay in the UK.
2) Ukrainian nationals travelling to the UK without making an application to one of the Ukraine Schemes can now be considered for six months' Leave Outside the Rules at the border. The last date for Ukrainian nationals granted six months' Leave Outside the Rules at the border to have valid leave is 16 May 2024.
3) The application deadline for the Ukraine Extension Scheme is now extended to 16 May 2024.
Reason For Change
These changes have been put into effect to facilitate smoother processes for Ukrainian nationals and to ensure compliance with the new Immigration Rules.
