The importance of UX.
Have you ever heard of UX design? UX design has been a concept since the rise of technology and it has become more relevant nowadays. It is developed in a mature workfield with influence on improving user experience, so that your product fits well with your target group. Do you think UX is an important part of the industry and you want to learn more about how to apply it to your website, application or some other service that you acquired, well read on..
What is the meaning of UX-design?
User Experience (UX) design is a view of the user experience around a user and a product/service. The term “user experience” was introduced by Donald Norman. Norman is an American researcher, professor and author. He is best known for his books on design, especially the book: Design of Everything.
Back to user experience design. There is a lot of disharmony about what exactly ux and UX design is, the field and its definition are also constantly evolving. Most people think user experience includes only usability. Well, It is more than just improving usability, which is part of the user experience. UX design is about the interplay of fun, the added value and performance in the user experience, played a prominent role in it.?
Why the art of UX works…
Especially the commercial aspect of the business is an important part of UX. The goal is to increase your conversion and to make it so easy as possible to navigate on the website. User Experience design is a creative process that often goes hand-in-hand with the graphic design process.
Most people in the workfield of UX are familiar with Steve Krug his book.
“Don’t make me think”.
The title of the book already reveals the secret of UX… because not making the user think to achieve his goals is the hardest part. So it must be working on a smoothly and intuitive way , were the user don′t have to think about the actions he has to do.
I know.. How? do you actually do that? Hmm, well it must be intuitive to use after all.. it is all about the what, where, why and how.? Those are the right questions a UX designer is looking for. Some examples are: Can the user easily achieve his goal? What emotion/experience does the user get when using the service, website or product? To gain these important needs, user research plays a major role. This includes for example the following user methods: user testing, A/B testing, card sorting, developing personas and conducting interviews. Research is very important. Because by empathizing with the user and focusing on them, you can improve and optimize your product , website or services. And that is something that can really make the difference between top or flop.
A short summary of what UX delivers in terms of results.
For sure you want to assume the best scenario in terms of results. Unfortunately this is not often what happens. In many cases you get tons of new insights from the user. This is necessary to make your product, website or services a success. After all, you want something to work easily for you and the user. This makes it fun and easy, so that it will be used more often by the user. But UX offers even more benefits.
Customer satisfaction
By doing good research into your target audience and improving the user experience of your website/product customer satisfaction will be higher. This will bring new users and will let existing users return to your website or product. In the long run this has a positive effect. The effect will result in higher conversions, more binding to your product and service. Which turns into customer loyalty.
Higher conversion rate.
A great user experience on a website, app or service will lead to better results in conversion. It will attract more users and you will keep them on your website. This results in positive experience and reviews. A good UX design navigates your target audience easily and quickly from A to B.
Competitive advantages.
UX design will result in competitive advantages. It is important that you differentiate yourself from all those competitors. A competitive advantage arises when you have something that the competition does not have. Therefore human centered design plays a major role when developing your concept, idea or product. Take the user with you at every step of your product development. This provides valuable insights into the behavior of the user and the wishes and needs. You can include this in your product, so that you distinguish yourself from other competitors.?
Avoids Waste of Resources
When developers need to rework existing UX design elements that could have been avoided previously their time is not being managed appropriately. A waste of time or resources will often result in financial losses.
