After a really great mentor motivation call on Friday - they happen every three weeks at 8.45 -9.05 am for members of the @AssociationofBusinessMentors - it was decided to capture the covered sentiments for a wider audience as the message is a very important one. Take a break. The two big lairy contributing factors to ill health and short lives are
1. Stress and 2. Lack of sleep
which both result in poor decision making and lack of vision as well as the pre-empt to severe health issues, so it’s a no brainier to refuel, recharge and engage a fresh perspective. During #mentormotivation, it was unearthed that many people suffer from feeling guilty if they are not working. Personally I managed to ditch feeling guilt a long time ago. A wasted emotion that can eat away at you. Helping someone to manage their guilt is a refined skill of a mentor. A couple of key points raised were:
a) Focus on conserving energy rather than time.
b) Make your own boundaries - that’s our prerogative as self employed people.
c) Manage expectations and everyone remains happy.
d) Google has gone to a four day week, not a decision made on a whim.
The overriding theme was, switch off and spend time with your family, friends, even just yourself and I guarantee you’ll jump into January with gusto.
2020 - it’s going to be a vast improvement on this year.
