[The Importance Of Staying In The Game]

[The Importance Of Staying In The Game]

Building a business is hard work. In fact, anything that you really want to achieve in your life, is hard work.

When it comes turning dreams into reality there are two types of people: "The Quitters" and the "Do Whatever It Takes-ers".

You see, from a young age I always wanted to present a TV show. I worked hard to get a place at the best media production course in the UK, I spent many long hours working behind the scenes on TV shows at the BBC. I created showreels, pitched my ideas, and in fact, when the presenter of a live children's tv show announced he was leaving I sent a letter to the TV producer of the show telling them that they need look no further, that I was the right man for the job (despite being 20 years old and having had no experience presenting TV shows whatsoever!)

At one point in my life there was not a TV production company in the UK who didn't know about me - I was trying! However, I was getting no interest whatsoever and crunch time came. Did I quit? Or, did I do whatever it took? Somehow I always had this passionate belief in my potential even if that was ability was not manifesting itself at that moment in time.

I always knew my potential and I knew that if I kept going, if I kept learning, if I kept implementing, then my dream of a presenting TV show would be possible.

I decided that I was going to do whatever it took.

I got what I dreamed about, but not in the way that I thought I would.

At the age of 26 years old I had a crazy idea to lease a 200 acre-island in Fiji, to invite the world to become tribe members and to decide online how we would build this eco-island from scratch and then, head to the island and make it happen in the real world.

Whilst many around me questioned my idea, told me that it wasn't possible and encouraged me to give up I set about to prove them wrong. I built a solid team including a business partner, a PR specialist, a web design company, a TV crew and so much more.

I fought hard when I doubted myself.

I battled when others told me it could not be done.

I refused to quit when business survival looked bleak.

This business did very well. It was featured in 200 media outlets around the world, was filmed for 18 months and became a TV show in three countries.

As a result of the success of my business, turned into a TV show, I was offered a job to be paid to spend all day every day coming up with the ideas for TV shows. Crazy how things pan out.

You see, we often have a dream. The way the your dream actualises itself may not be in the same way that you had initially conceived it to be. However, if you quit, your dream will never, ever happen.

If you do whatever it takes to see that dream and desire become a reality, you will achieve more than you could possibly ever think or imagine.

So, quit, or do whatever it takes, the choice is yours.
