The Importance of Speaking Up: A Message for New Sales Professionals

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed something about myself—my motivation and confidence have started to wane. I’ve always been known for my communication skills and self-assurance, but lately, that part of me seemed to be missing. The pressure of trying to prove myself and hit targets early in my role made me lose sight of the qualities that once defined me.
There were moments in my corporate experience where I felt judged—especially when it came to speaking up. It led me to stay silent, even in situations where I had valid questions or concerns. Someone who used to be proactive and eager to engage suddenly found themselves holding back, avoiding direct interaction with management to escape questioning. Within just a couple of months, I realized that this wasn’t me. This wasn’t the professional I wanted to be.
The truth is, staying silent only makes things worse. I’ve come to understand that in order to resolve the challenges I face—whether it’s about data, any inconveniences, or other concerns—I need to speak up. No one can solve these issues for me unless I raise them myself. In the end, I will be held accountable for my performance, and the only way to ensure success is by voicing the challenges that stand in my way.
This message is especially for all new joiners or those just starting their journey in sales. Never be afraid to speak up. Always share your concerns, and do so professionally and in writing, so there’s a record of your efforts. Sales is a tough job, and it takes time to build connections and strong relationships. Not everything will fall into place right away, but the key is persistence and open communication.

The reason I’m sharing this is simple: Raise your voice for yourself. If you’re facing a problem, share it. If you need help, seek it. Even if you don’t get the assistance you expect, at least you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you did your part. You asked the right questions, and you performed your duties to the best of your ability.
Success in sales, and in any field, is built on confidence and communication. Never lose sight of that, and never lose your voice.
