When looking for achieving the goals that we have set for ourselves, there are a few things that might increase the odds in our favor when pursuing goals. Self-trust and self-persistence, the ability to simply stick with our goals. The ability to face rejection and still keep working on your goals is an important task. Those who eventually succeed have trust in their ability and confidence in their creative taste and instincts. BILL GATES in one of his speech said “There comes a few magical moments where you have to have confidence in yourself.” Persistence leads us right to something called grit. Grit is a proven determinant of successful goal attainment.
Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals. One way to think about grit is to consider what grit isn’t. Grit isn’t talent. Grit isn’t luck. Grit isn’t how intensely, for the moment, you want something. Instead, grit is about having what some researchers call an “ultimate concern”–a goal you care about so much that it organizes and gives meaning to almost everything you do. And grit is holding steadfast to that goal. Even when you fall down. Even when you screw up. Even when progress toward that goal is halting or slow.
Ask yourself.
- How gritty are you to achieve your goals and have a dream life both personally and professionally?
- Do you trust yourself to achieve the goals your set for or do you lack self confidence?
- What actions have YOU taken to achieve those goals?
