The Importance of Self-care
When you hear the words 'Self care', what comes to mind?
Years ago, that would mean a weekend away, day at the spa, going for a massage etc.
The reality is, self care can be simple things that brings you peace & fills your bucket. Perhaps it is taking time to read a book, listen to a podcast, watching your favourite show/movie or attending a yoga.
The important part is to find what makes you feel happy & do more of it! Stop putting things off for when you 'have time' or for the weekend & instead, schedule time each day for yourselves. Even if it is only a 5 minute meditations, stretch session or deep breathing, the benefits will be well worth it!
Practicing self-care should become an essential part of your life, as it strongly influences many aspects of your life. In fact, people who practice self-care regularly experience less stress, have a higher quality of life, & can develop healthier relationships.
Here are some tips that could be useful in incorporating self care into your life:
~ Understand that self-care is not selfish
~ Block times in your schedule & set reminders
~ Remember, you need to be in good shape mentally & physically to help others
~ Have an accountability partner that ensures you are making time for yourself
What do you plan to add into your regular self care routine?
