The importance of sales coaching for sellers and solopreneurs

No one is perfect.

There is always room to improve and learn.

As business owners, when you set revenue goals, sales targets, or intentions for massive success in business - you often get stuck at HOW you are going to achieve them.

At this critical juncture, sales coaching can help you identify your weak areas, amplify your strengths in selling and find the strategies and insights which can help you bring in more clients to your business.

This week I had a conversation on Ace the Sales Podcast with Shruti Kapoor, CEO and Co-Founder Wingman, an AI-driven call-support and real-time sales coaching tool. We talked about the importance of sales coaching for sellers and solopreneurs where she shared some interesting points:

  • For business owners, it is of high importance that all their sellers are able to perform at a consistent level. This means that the low performers have the opportunity to learn from the best performers. And the top performers can observe and learn what they do best so that they can play to their strengths. Sales Coaching enables bridging this performance gap and disparity amongst the sales team.
  • For individuals, it is of relevance to know what is it that they need to work upon in order to get better at selling. Is it that they are not able to handle objections very well, do they lose out in negotiations, how to talk about pricing. One-on-One sales coaching helps them observe and course-correct their approach in a sales conversation.

It was also interesting to know the discovery call process Shruti has developed at Wingman in order to eliminate the misfit clients and move on only with prospects who can really benefit from their solution.

So often we fall into the trap of "let ABC do the talking" e.g. product, marketing, fundraise story... Unfortunately nothing can replace the talking you need to do as a founder. So if you have chosen the path, get ready to do some talking :) (and in this case some listening)
