The Importance of Routines& Habits
According to studies, up to 40% of our daily actions are powered by habits. Meaning your subconscious mind can work for you or against you. Basically, we are what we do over and over. Habits and routines form our life.
What habits serve you?
Do you have a good morning and night routine?
Why routines are important.
They help us form balance and give us consistency in our day. Less to think about or stress over.
They create structure - a sense of comfort and certainty in an uncertain world.
They give us a sense of accomplishment- when we accomplish a task, we feel good, it gives us the positive emotions of pride and accomplishment which cultivate happiness.
You should have a morning and night routine. Some people like a midday routine but that's up to you.
A morning routine helps set your day up for success. The morning routine should consist of a few things.
What are your top three priorities for today? Which one is your main priority? These are great time management techniques for having a productive day.
What is my mindfulness activity for the morning- a free write, stretching, exercise, prayer, etc.
Switch your morning news program which just replays the negativity for a positive podcast or video.
Ask the magic question (but don't try to answer it) just throw it out to the universe - How can I make this a great day?
Make your bed - brings you the positive emotions of accomplishment and pride. Start your day with a dose of happiness.

An evening routine helps you wind down for a good night of sleep. The evening routine should consist of a few things.
Ask yourself these two questions:
What 2-3 things am I grateful for that happen today?
What 2-3 things did I do well today?
Those two questions can be written or spoken. These two questions are happiness habits and help retrain your brain to start noticing the positive instead of the negative.
Did I accomplish my goals today? If not, can I tweak them? Can I add them to my to-do list for tomorrow? Why didn't I accomplish the goals?
Write out your to-do list before bed so it doesn't ruminate or wake you up. Put the list somewhere you can see it when you wake up.
End your day with some mindfulness - meditation, deep breathing, grounding technique, warm bath or shower, drink a cup of sleepy time tea, etc.
Shut off all technology 60 minutes before bed.
