As an agency recruiter, your success depends on your ability to continually improve your skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends. Practicing the principle of getting 1% better every day can help you achieve this goal and ultimately lead to greater success in your career.

The principle of getting 1% better every day is all about making small but consistent improvements to your work habits and skills. By focusing on continual growth and improvement, you can avoid stagnation and stay motivated to achieve your goals.

Here are some reasons why practicing this principle is so important for agency recruiters:

  • It helps you stay competitive

The recruitment industry is constantly evolving, and recruiters who fail to adapt and improve risk falling behind their competitors. By making small improvements every day, you can stay on top of the latest trends and technologies in your field, and remain competitive in the marketplace.

  • It improves your productivity

Making small improvements to your work habits and processes can have a big impact on your productivity. By streamlining your workflow, improving your time management skills, and adopting new tools and technologies, you can get more done in less time and achieve better results.

  • It boosts your confidence

As you make progress towards your goals, you’ll naturally feel more confident in your abilities. This can help you overcome any obstacles or challenges you encounter along the way, and stay motivated to keep pushing yourself to improve.

  • It leads to greater job satisfaction

When you’re constantly improving and making progress towards your goals, you’ll feel a greater sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in your work. This can help you stay engaged and motivated in your job, and lead to greater overall job satisfaction. There is this saying in the Recruitment world, when you are busy, recruitment is enjoyable, however when it's quiet and non-productive is a very hard industry to be in.

So how can you practice the principle of getting 1% better every day as an recruiter? Here are some tips:

  1. Set specific, measurable goals

To make progress towards your goals, you need to know exactly what you’re working towards. Set specific, measurable goals that you can track and measure your progress against.

2. Focus on continuous learning

Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies by reading industry publications, attending conferences, and networking with other recruiters.

3. Experiment with new tools and processes

Try out new tools and processes to see what works best for you. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes – experimentation is a key part of the learning process.

4. Seek feedback and mentorship

Ask for feedback from your colleagues, mentors, and clients to help identify areas for improvement. Seek out mentorship from experienced recruiters to learn from their successes and failures.

The predictable success growth model in recruitment :

I recently finished the book?Predictable Success: Getting Your Organization on the Growth Track-And Keeping It There?by Les McKeown. The book is written for marketplace leaders; however, there are a number of principles that certainly apply to any organization, and recruiters. Here are some of the key thoughts that jumped out to me from my reading:

  1. You have to define your action plan?and then work your plan.?The win happens when “you can set (and consistently achieve) your goals and objectives with a consistent, predictable degree of success.”
  2. Healthy plans begin by identifying your “customers” and your customer’s needs.?“Plan to start your business in ‘listen’ mode—you’ll find out where your customers are by asking, not by talking.”
  3. You have to establish systems to overcome the complexity created with?growth.?“The whole purpose of systems and processes is to enable an organization to deal effectively with complexity.” This can, is also very relevant to a recruiter's desk.
  4. You have to balance the tension between risk and systems.?“Predictable Success is achieved by introducing and maintaining the right amount of systems and processes necessary to tame complexity, while at the same time holding in balance the zeal, creativity and risk taking that have grown the business or your desk to this point.”
  5. Complexity makes it difficult to make decisions and get things done.?“Making and executing decisions is much harder in a complex organization than it is in a simple one.” This relates to recruitment, in the way of getting better at saying no to certain, job vacancies, clients and candidates. When we make the difficult decisions to walk away due to unqualified factors re clients and candidates, your desk becomes less complicated, thus more simple - this is where magic happens!

By practicing the principle of getting 1% better every day, you can improve your skills, stay competitive, and achieve greater success as a recruiter. So start setting goals, learning new skills, and experimenting with new processes today – and see where it takes you!
