Today's topic is "the importance of proper rest to achieve high performance", the power of resting to achieve high performance, so in other words, it can be like saying how "how to go fast by going slow”?
Too often people think that, you know, sleeping or taking regular rest will reduce productivity or performance. But this is actually not true, studies have shown on average that people need at least 6 to 8 hours for adults of sleep every day to function optimally, again to function optimally; contrary to popular, belief that some extra-terrestrial beliefs that "CEOs" or leaders and athletes can perform just as well on a 4 to 5 hour sleeps, you know, especially in silicon valley, I know there was a myth then, you know, four or five hours sleep, that some leaders and CEOs you know, used to do and advocate; but this is simply not sustainable and it will eventually take a toll on you, right, in a form of health deterioration, just to talk about rest, sleep is one aspect of that.
So, sleep or rest help us to recharge and maintain our mental and physical health, so, the process of relaxing, whether it's in a form of sleeping or taking breaks throughout the day is essential to our physical and mental recovery, without proper rest, we can become easily stressed and drain, which can seriously impair our performance, no doubt about that.
So, having a good night's sleep is important when it comes to improving your physical performance! The following day! When you are not tired or exhausted, you can focus, concentrate better, and optimize your time for maximum productivity! So additionally, when you think about that, getting enough rest helps you stay alert and ready for anything.
If you think about it, it is important to recognize that proper rest plays a key role in achieving high performance and sustaining it. So, getting yourself into a healthy rest routine during a day breaks, like each hour, if you can just take a break, just recharge, reset.
And do not forget to, to take it, the same goes for a sleeping pattern. So, if you miss, you know, 6-7 hours, you can catch it up. So, I remember when I was training, when I was training, you know trying to make it to the Olympics rest is part of your performance.
Yes, rest is part of your performance.
Resting is part of your performance. So holistically, it is about understanding the law of rhythm! If you add the spiritual aspect to it. You cannot have daylight all the time. You are going to have days, you are going to have nights, you need a night to balance a day.
So, that's why resting is part of high performance. This is something I was thinking about it because last week, the last 2-3 weeks myself, I went too high myself without stopping and breaks and I had to remind myself that. So that is a great reminder. I wanted to share with you about this week’s performance edge.
Like one of my coaches used to say rest is part of high performance, so I hope it serves you as a great reminder at this week’s performance edge.
