The importance of positive thinking
Many people have heard the saying ‘like attracts like’, meaning a positive mindset will create positive outcomes.
Personally, I am a big advocate for self-improvement and being the best you can be. My life changed drastically for the better when I changed my mindset and started thinking positively.
Having a positive attitude and outlook helps you cope with the daily curve balls life inevitably throws our way. A positive person anticipates happiness, health and success, and believes they can overcome any obstacle and difficulty.
We need to constantly remind ourselves that changing how we think is for our own good. As Buddha once said, “We are what we think.”
Some of the benefits I have experienced from maintaining a positive mindset include decreased stress levels, an ability to keep things in perspective, better health, better relationships, increased motivation and a better appreciation for life.
When we start to have negative thoughts, it’s hard to stop them. And it’s much easier said than done to shift your focus to positive thoughts. But it’s the only way, especially if you want to avoid going down a path that is painful and unnecessary.
According to the Law of Attraction, you will attract whatever you feel and think of. If something negative happens, sit back and analyse what happened and where it went wrong. After doing so, and having a clear picture of the situation, create plans and set goals for change that will develop a solid foundation to help you. The world may sometimes seem unfair so it’s okay to experience some frustration, but continue to think of ways to make your life better. In other words, learn from your mistakes and move forward!
My advice to keep a positive mindset is to focus on the positive, learn from the negative and do not dwell on any thoughts that do not serve you. Focus on what you want and how you want to get it. It does take practice and having this attitude will not stop negative things happening in your life, however it will make it a lot easier to deal with these situations.
I’ll leave you with a quote from the Dalai Lama, “In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.”
I partner with world-class leadership talent to find their perfect role across the executive search, and RPO/MSP markets globally. Occasionally throw out a hilarious post or two also.

8 年Great subject to pick! It is so true Thomas, but the most challenging for many people is how to turn your thoughts around if something goes wrong. How best to do it? Any tips?
