Importance Of Our “Sense Organs

We are trained on our 5 senses from babyhood: vision, smell, hearing, taste and touch. Since the time that we were in our young age, we knew how to “use our senses” to explore the world around us. But, the senses that we talk about to do much more than just recognize the place that we breathe in. They have their own set of work to complete and can’t just only sit with the above explanations, as to what they are meant to do in this world. Our senses have a vital role to play that goes beyond our imagination; it has everything to do with our emotional handling, knowledge and understanding.?

The?sense organs?are the body?organs?by which humans can see, smell, hear, taste, and touch or feel. The?five sense organs?are:

  • The eyes?(for seeing) – By far the most important organs of sense are our eyes. We perceive up to 80% of all impressions utilizing our sight. And if other senses such as taste or smell stop working, it’s the eyes that best protect us from danger. Vision is the least developed sense at birth as a womb is a dark place and there is little opportunity for development. Vision, like hearing, does develop rapidly over the early years of a baby’s life
  • Nose?(for smelling), Smell. If you didn’t sniff this answer coming by now, then you need your nose checked. The smell is the strongest human sense, and contrary to popular belief, maybe just as powerful as the snout sniffers in dogs and rodents (to certain degrees).
  • Ears?(for hearing), hearing is our most sensitive (due to the range of ‘loudness’ over which hearing operates)
  • Tongue?(for tasting), Taste is a sensory function of the central nervous system and is considered the weakest sense in the human body. The sense of taste begins with the taste buds, which are found in large bumps on the tongue called fungi-form papillae.
  • And skin?(for touching or feeling). “Touch is the least understood sense,” says Kenneth Johnson, an engineer turned neurology researcher.
  • Kinesthesis?also referred to as kinesthesia, is the perception of body movements. … You are using your kinesthetic sense whenever you are involved in physical activity such as walking, running, driving, dancing, swimming, and anything that requires body movement.

They may?sense?pain, temperature, pressure, friction, or stretch. Unique receptors respond to each?kind?of information. Our senses can be stimulated at different levels, which can be portrayed with numerous components.

In this particular article, we shall see how our diverse senses relay to our sentiments (Mental & Nervous system). On a ground level, we will now study how our senses are related to our emotional imbalance, awareness and wisdom. Let us put it in simple words, our sensory facts lead the way we react emotionally. Just for example – When you have a stranger in front of you who doesn’t look good, we automatically don’t like that person – this can be defined as the “Sensory Thought process”. Likewise, every individual has their way of describing how they feel or sense about something – someone feels triggered by the smell of caffeine, some people like black tea, some with a strong flavour of ginger or some like the flavour of jasmine and some just go with green tea – the list goes on. All these are connected with how they interpret the way a cup of tea smells and tastes and how they eventually make them feel. The areas of our brain do have a direct connection with our emotional levels.

Emotions and our sensory organs do have an impact on each other. Many surveys have proved that our sense areas do get a lift via our emotions. Various scans have shown that when a person is emotionally weak, it increases the stimulation level in the sensory organs. When we hear someone shouting for help or see a fire, we automatically know what to do, run towards that person or reach a safer place to avoid unnecessary accidents. These sensory organs are naturally built within us and till date, it remains intact, unless some scientists do discover a pattern to change our emotional sense or imitate the same in some clones. Researchers have carried out various experiments on animals to say how they react to a situation and if they have the same emotional or fearful memory stacked inside the sensory organs, somehow they have shown some areas which are close to what the humans feel and sense.


Whenever we find out that there is a feeling of stress or anxiety which is building up, we try to run out somewhere we feel relaxed or where we can be at peace, this would be to come out of that situation. These moments where we tend to react to situations like this is called “Subconscious moments”. An occasion where your thoughts are not bounded by fear or anxiety. The place you are lead to gives you an immediate diversion from what you ran and makes you feel relaxed, no worries from the past and you are there to enjoy the very moment and be in the perfect place.

These types of subconscious moments are great when it comes to easing off your mood and releasing the tensed nerves. Now that we are stuck in a pandemic situation where it’s difficult for us to go to any of the places we prefer to, we do need to create a space of our own or find out an alternative to look up to whenever we find ourselves in certain situations where we just want to run away and get a soother environment which is just picture-perfect for you.

As mentioned in this article, our sentiments and senses are closely related to each other. What, we as humans listen, perceive, touch and smell do gives us the idea as to how to react to certain situations. Additionally in another way round, our feelings can be greatly inspired by the way our senses take things the way they want to. Subsequently, when you are sad, now that you would know that this isn’t something which is not known to you, it has something to do with the impression of a certain moment of pain in your life.?
