Importance of Networking

Importance of Networking

Networking is the acquisition of relationships to help build and develop professional contacts. Not only can you find new business opportunities, but you can trade information and knowledge, whilst making yourself noticeable. In fact, 95% of professions consider face to face communication vital for long term business.

DCW Group's Managing Director Dean Ward says "Networking is an important part of our day to day business and is currently producing 65% of our business. It is important to be selective when attending Networking Events, specifically, before you go find out who the attendees are and do a bit of research on them before you go so then you have a plan of what to talk about and how your services can help THEM!" Remember, dress the part, have a firm handshake, PLENTY of listening and also...don't forget your business card! "Networking can come in various forms...for instance, last week, it was a Construction Black Tie Dinner and this week, it's Freshwater Angling - again, VERY diverse!"

Dean Ward suggests to "Always adopt the thought process that 'You never know who you're talking to so always make a good impression'."

Good points Dean. Where we sometimes struggle is knowing which events are the most appropriate, but I suppose any event creates opportunity?
