The Importance of a Muslim Women's Helpline

The Importance of a Muslim Women's Helpline

Firstly, a moment of praise for the One who is All Seeing, All Hearing. The One to whom we all belong. The Most Aware, the Most High. He gave us our highs, our lows, our blessings and our lessons, and knows everything in our hearts. He gave us the compassion to care for others, the love for our sisters, and the desire to create change that is unique about our identity.

Alhamdulillah for the Most Merciful, without His unimaginable Love there would be no kindness in the hearts of man, and no sincere soul on the other end of the phone when one is in need.

We've all heard of excellent charities that provide a service to those who need a listening ear. We can all probably name a handful of ways to get help and advice. We're bombarded with their adverts when we watch videos online, or scroll through our social media feeds. And it's fantastic, really, the recognition of the serious need for talk therapy, for counselling, for an outlet for a voice that yearns to be heard. But what's out there for the Muslimah when she is in a crisis and she worries about the advice of someone who does not share her faith? Who is on the other end of the phone when utmost discretion and understanding is needed when it comes to her culture, her custom, and, most importantly, her creed??

Maryam Support Line provides help and advice for sisters in need. We are just one call or message away.

In an ever changing world with continuous trials and tribulations that befall our communities, Maryam Support Line has been established as a way for sisters to reach out to other sisters - people who understand, empathise and can advise and listen without judgement, without confusion, without speculation about our faith and ideologies. Islam has always united us as nations around the globe; we should be united in our love and support for one another within our beautiful sisterhood. Allah SWT says in the Glorious Qur'an,?"And hold fast by the covenant of Allah all together and be not disunited, and remember the favour of Allah on you when you were enemies, then He united your hearts so by His favour you became brethren”?[Surah Ali Imran, 3:103] therefore the beauty of Islamic unity and being a support system for one another is unmatched.

Perhaps your difficulty lies in spirituality and deen-related struggles, or in delicate areas of rights and responsibilities. Maybe you just require the comfort of a Muslimah to hear your troubles without needing an explanation of the most important side of things - the faith side of things. Islam exists as an entire way of life, a moral code, a governing system to form the very foundations of our society. And providing guidance to those who need it most is truly at the heart of that.?

Help and support is simply just a click away. If you are wondering whether to get in touch, please seek the counsel of a loving sister in deen at Maryam Support Line today.

Muslim women have a lot to cope with. Surveys show that Muslim women deal with more islamophobia than Muslim men, facing innumerable challenges in so many aspects of their daily lives. A fast-paced Western society and a growing list of expenses requiring a dual income household has, for many, meant that the traditional and well-known gender roles of old have slowly been transformed. It is not uncommon to feel disillusioned, lost or confused about your 'place' and identity as a Muslim woman in a challenging socio-political climate. But sharing that burden with another sister can often open a discussion that is at once realistic, honest, hopeful and rejuvenating.?

One person can bring about so much peace, relief and tranquillity to the heart and mind of another. It is something extraordinary and a great blessing from Allah SWT. Our Beloved Prophet (SAW) said,?“Verily, the believers are like a structure, each part strengthening the other,” and the Prophet clasped his fingers together.?[Al-Bukhari].
