The importance of momentum
Who loves college football?!!? I do--?HOOK 'EM!-?and if you were glued to your TV yesterday watching the college playoffs and bowl selection show like I was you may have seen Michigan's head coach Harbaugh discussing his team's success this year and what he described as?"momentum" ?and a "brotherhood" going into the off season. (4:30 minute mark)?I had chills watching it- and the parallels I felt with the team I had the privilege of leading this year, along with the success I know our NEW team has had collectively this year- the message resonated with me as we are heading into a new season and looking at our "off season" over the holidays.
A lot of people talk about "culture", and it is important for sure, but, like Harbaugh, I think momentum is the real key- the basics- showing up, doing the work, "getting in your reps" is the standard- but the "brotherhood", the TEAM collaboration and commitment to each other to "be your best"-?is where the real momentum and something special occurs.?If you truly believe, and ACT?as if you are part of something bigger than yourself, if you are committed to doing more for the sake of the team, the momentum that is created is unbreakable and will propel you through the challenges you undoubtably will face as a team.?

As we look forward to some time away this holiday -"our off season" if you will, if you are part of a high performance team I hope you reflect on the inertia that you have created together with your team in 22- sure there was some luck involved, but it was the prepping, planning and consistent behaviors and activities that you put into practice this year that made it happen- enjoy the downtime and start the new year off with the same intensity, grit and collective momentum as you are ending this one with. Momentum is a difference maker and it takes each and every one of you on a team. Cheers to a great year! May you beat your best in '23!
