The Importance of Mental Health in Social Crisis!

The unprecedented era of the COVID-19 pandemic has drawn special attention to existing gaps in the society connecting to mental health from social crisis.

Evidence comes from preexisting mental health disparities, increase in anxiety, the adjustment in the 'new normal', trauma, grief, and loss. Some demonstrations in the streets turning extremely violent, negative targets on private property and their owners; deepen social unrest.

This social outburst is a complex admixture of a long‐held perception of social crisis - some relating to existing mental issues and there is a need to trigger underlying professional motivations.

The Impact So far...

India comprises a large number of people with mental health disease burden– an increasing number of patients seeking relevance as mental health topics are highly stigmatized.

Majority embrace "negative attitudes toward psychiatric hospitals from those living in rural areas as well as those with lesser education may be reflective of the lack of availability, accessibility, affordability, and credibility of such mental health services."–a comparative public survey in Odisha State, India.

However, Integrating mental health care awareness into every level of the educational system might be quite daunting; major households, religious gatherings, fun arenas, club members are still attached to traditional medicine and religious healers.

Where do we go from here?

We'll adopt a progressive mental health system that reduces negative attitudes during social crises. Once there is enlightenment, and sustainable awareness, a considerable balance between the mental health disease burden and resources needed to close the gap will come to play. Check out some following things that need to be put in place.

  1. There is a need to integrate more mental health professionals and the availability of working diagnostic test kits into the healthcare system.
  2. Increased awareness amongst common people without bias of social status or position.
  3. Quick attention to treatment-seeking mental health behavior–even though some symptoms might appear to be normal.
  4. Easy access to a therapy session to tackle primary barriers and the problem of mental health.
  5. Increase in finance of community-based mental health expenditure–improved effort for standard mental health care.

It starts from YOU...

Society depends on the presence of individuals that connect through give-and-take interactions such as conversations in common affairs, text, emails, and the Internet.

Each person grows to become a family, functioning under the influence of binding law, cultural system, or similar values. Everyone's participation pivots through the family to becoming a society.

Your situation– Without a Mental Health Professional
