The Importance of Making Your Heart Sing

Guiding women with a powerful calling to move from stagnation to positive manifestation through energy and abundance alignment coaching | Empowerment & Wellbeing Speaker | Bestseller Writer
In last week's edition I wrote about the power of our thoughts and how they have an energy force that have a double-edged impact on our lives, in terms of our own body (through the mind-body connection) and how they carry a ripple effect on others. This means that we have a significant responsibility to master our mind and control the bias of our thoughts - are they habitually negative or positive? I offered some insight into how we can change, even on a subconscious level, and rewire ourselves to align to a more positive frequency and life experience.
In this particular edition, we move on to the power of feelings and in particular the power of the heart. For many millenia, Eastern healers, philosophers and spiritual leaders have known of the power of the heart, but it's only in more recent times we're able to scientifically back this up.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Bruce Cryer in my Facebook group, Banquet of Life, during the height of the Covid pandemic in November 2020 (on Remembrance Sunday). Bruce was heavily involved in the early, pioneering research of the HeartMath Institute in the 1990s and became its CEO in 2000. Most of this research is around the subject of Heart Coherence, which has since been scientifically validated by the prestigious Stanford University. It's an area of study that the famous Dr Joe Dispenza embraces fully in his writing, coaching, workshops and meditations.
Heart Coherence
As the mind expresses itself through thoughts (spoken or unspoken), the heart expresses itself through emotions or feelings. Both energy centres impact our lives physically, mentally and spiritually, but as we will soon discover the heart carries the trump card.
We now understand through the HeartMath research that the heart is so much more than an amazing, physical machine pumping vital blood around the body and keeping us alive. It is a powerful electromagnetic centre. Electrically, the heart has 60x the amplitude of the brain and its magnetic field can be measured many feet away (some say up to 20 feet away) from the body.
It's for this reason I believe that we can establish more meaningful connections with some people and not with others. It's not so much about minds being on the same wavelength, it's more about correlating or synchronous heart waves (magnetic attraction). The saying "birds of a feather flock together" comes to mind. When we don't gel with someone, we are magnetically repellent: our heart waves are out of sync. As a therapist and energy worker, I immediately sense through the heart if I will get on with someone or not: if we are energetically a match or not. You can call it intuition or 6th sense if you like (I'll talk more on this in my next article).
The state of our heart (aka our feelings) determines significantly the quality of our lives and the quality of our connections with others.
Heart coherence is all about being in a loving, peaceful and appreciative state. This state can be measured as smooth heart waves or rhythms.
In this state of heart coherence we can regulate all life processes so that they become efficient, or even optimal, free-flowing and easy. Heart coherence increases our body’s parasympathetic activity, allowing faster healing and recovery. It also triggers the release of endorphins and the hormone DHEA, which promote vitality and are anti-ageing.
The HeartMath Institute have also indicated that there is more than a physiological / biological connection between the heart and brain, there is also an energetic interaction. When we are more heart coherent we become more brain coherent, improving cognitive function and reducing the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's. Heart coherence also leads to increased emotional stability and resilience.
Coherence always implies correlations, connectedness, consistency and efficient energy utilisation. Wholeness and global order, where the whole is greater than the sum of its individual parts.
The more internally coherent with our heart energy, the more stable our energy field and the less likely we are impacted by the negative field of others.
Personal heart coherence not only improves personal health and happiness, but also feeds into and impacts a global field environment. It is argued that as increasing numbers of people add coherent energy to the global field, it helps strengthen and stabilise mutually beneficial feedback loops between human beings and Earth’s magnetic fields.
Incoherent Energy States
When we become stressed, irritated, angry or fearful we are no longer in a heart coherent state. We are in resistant energy. Our heart beat becomes erratic, the heart waves look chaotic and appear like seismic movements on an ECG. Through the heart-brain energy connection our ability to think lucidly and constructively becomes impaired. Our ability to maintain homeostasis (balance) and to self-heal and regenerate is compromised.
That’s why it’s important to self-regulate and practise positivity enhancing techniques to create and sustain coherence mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Cultivating Heart Coherence
In our conversation, Bruce Cryer talks about the fact that we have the power of choice, the choice around the kind of life we lead. He alludes to the story of Viktor Frankl, the Holocaust survivor. We have the choice to move from a fearful, worried state into an appreciative state. We have the choice to seek out activities that make "our heart sing", that connect us to the high vibration of love. In his case, he talks about his particular joys and passions, namely dancing (even post-hip surgery and cancer), singing and photography. It's also motivated him to design his Creativity Unleashed workshop programmes to help bring others into greater heart coherence.
Making our heart sing is all about tapping into our innate creative nature and bringing our love to fullest expression. We are all truly creative if we see the opportunity or the silver lining rather than the problem or the dark cloud on the horizon. When we operate out of fear, we are not operating to our fullest creativity, we are prevented from living in a truly heart coherent state, that not only affects us, but because of the positive electromagnetic transmission this produces, affects others too.
Here are some quick techniques to produce a more heart coherent state:
In next week's newsletter I will talk about the emotional intelligence of the heart and why it's our 6th sense and greatest source of Divine energy, intuition and inspiration. I will touch on my story that I shared in an Amazon international bestseller.

3 年Beautiful! As someone who first trained as a Hridaya meditation teacher (spiritual heart) I know how important it is that this wisdom reaches people and now they have the research and scientific understanding to back up what mystics have been teaching for centuries ???
