The Importance Of Introspection
When we commit to the process of growing and getting better personally and professionally, we end up doing things that we feel will help us over time.
We set goals for the short term and long term.
We connect with others to learn about their experiences and expertise.
We put in the time and effort to work hard on our growth.
These are all essential things, yet some of us miss a key part of the process.
One that will give us so many gains if done correctly.
That key factor is practicing self-reflection and introspection.
When we go out, learn new things, and then take the needed actions to apply those things, being able to reflect in hindsight is an important skill.
It allows us to comprehend and understand concepts more deeply, and improve on things we are doing presently.
Practicing this even has health benefits.
According to a 2022 study by Neurology, self-reflection has the ability to increase cognitive function and improve glucose metabolism.
So, as we progress and achieve growth in our careers and in our personal life, taking the time to think about how to improve and get 1% better each day will give us those gains we seek.
My hope for this newsletter is to share different topics from current events, my own experiences, and the experiences of those I come across through a lens that allows us the opportunity for personal growth, and to receive takeaways for positive, practical use.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to walking this journey alongside you.
