Quality Inspection, Testing, and Certification are essential processes that help to ensure the safety and nutritive quality of foods. These processes help to identify any defects or deviations from desired quality standards and ensure that corrective measures are taken to address them. They also provide consumers with confidence in the safety and quality of the food products they are purchasing.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has developed several regulations to ensure the safety and quality of food products in India. These regulations cover a wide range of food products and include standards for food products, food additives, contaminants, toxins, residues and laboratory and sampling analysis.

In addition, the FSSAI has also developed regulations for health supplements, nutraceuticals, food for special dietary use, food for special medical purpose, functional food, and novel food. These regulations provide guidelines for the composition of these products and ensure that they deliver the desired level of energy, protein, vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients required for respective age group, gender, and physiological stage in accordance with the guidelines made by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
