Why should you grow your network? With a small business to run, your priority might be on your customers or clients, so the idea of networking with other business people might be far from your mind. However, you are missing out on a lot if you isolate yourself, as there are benefits to networking that can be afforded to you. These include the following.
#1: You will gain new opportunities
By attending a networking event, you will meet other people in your position. Like you, they will be trying to grow their startups, and while some of them might be perceived as the competition, there might be other small business owners who can support you in what you are doing. They might be willing to refer your business to their clients. They might have resources you can tap into. And you might even meet a potential business partner. These are just a few of the opportunities that could arise from networking, but there will be others, and the only way you are going to find out more is by attending a networking event.
#2: You will tap into a knowledge-base
By networking with like-minded business owners, you will have the opportunity to ask for advice. How do they market their businesses? How do they maintain a work-life balance? What funding sources have they used to grow their businesses? At a networking event, or even by sharing a co-working space with another, you will be able to draw on the experiential wisdom of others. Not only that, of course, as they will have the opportunity to learn from your experiences in business too, and that can only be good news as far as your reputation is concerned.
