The Importance Of Getting Back In The Groove

The Importance Of Getting Back In The Groove

We’ve just completed a journey that took from 6am Tuesday morning until 11pm Thursday night and involved a straight 10 hour drive and 27 hours on a ferry (not to mention a good couple of hours in customs and immigration queues).

Know what we did straight after a strong black coffee this morning?

Got out in the garden in the rain and smashed out a HIIT workout.

Why am I telling you this? Not to show off, but to let you know that one sure fire way of boosting your energy and making yourself feel better about yourself, is to move your body.

It goes beyond the physical though, it’s also about your mental and emotional wellbeing.

You see, when you’re on the road you lose control of your food, yep, we were munching down on bread, cheese, chips…

Add in you’re sat in a vehicle not moving your body much for hours on end, and your missing your regular workouts.

It can make you feel sluggish, icky, demotivated.

When the alarm went off this morning it would have been so easy to stay in bed. To think… "I’ll start tomorrow."

Here’s what we know from our own experience. There are never any benefits to delaying.

When you fail to carry out on an action you reinforce to your sub-conscious that you’re not capable, you give your inner critic fuel - and no one wants that.

Often the “easy” option is anything but. It’s the harder option that’s going to make you feel better about yourself.

Motivation comes and goes for all of us. It’s never constant. Consistency and persistence, taking those small steps every day is what keeps you going.

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s workout - what are you looking forward to tomorrow that will help you feel great about yourself?
