The importance of Environmental Data Certification

DLGS 155/10
Over the years, the growing attention to environmental protection has led to an increase in the commitment to sustainable development by companies, institutions and organizations. Awareness is gaining ground in the vision of more and more companies and the tools towards an ecological transition have become multiple. These include environmental certifications, documents that tend to ensure good environmental management. Obviously we need quantitative evaluation systems in order to better know the information. Decree No. 155/2010 is currently the main reference in air quality for the assessment of air pollution. In addition to providing a reference methodology for zoning the Italian territory, it has also defined the reference values that allow an assessment of air quality, on an annual basis, in relation to the concentrations of different pollutants.? This methodology is based on fixed-site measurements with high economic impact technologies, thus leading to the extrapolation of a small number of data at very high costs. So we ask ourselves, alongside these technologies, the use of different systems and methodologies, capable of collecting a greater number of data, in times considerably reduced and more affordable, would it be possible to obtain better air quality information?
JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE (EU)
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a Directorate-General of the European Union with seven research institutes in five member countries. It provides scientific and technical support for the design, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies and will support Horizon Europe's 5 missions through new knowledge centres, analysis and monitoring of progress. The main scientific site of the JRC is located in Italy, in Ispra, in the area of Lake Maggiore in Lombardia, and it is in this region that the research center has decided to implement the verification activities of the data collection network. In particular, the JRC, through seven scientific reports on air quality in Lombardia, has positively rated the Arpa network as one of the best in Europe. It should be stressed that the JRC has long promoted the experimentation of the use of new technologies for environmental monitoring to allow in a multi-source logic the achievement of a better characterization of the environment around us.

MENS TURIN PROJECT
In this perspective, Sense Square also promotes the use of new technologies that can detect high-resolution environmental data at low costs. In fact, Mens Turin project, created in collaboration between Sense Square and Sirti, is able to transform the environmental data into high-impact control tools for Public Administrations, Companies and citizens.?Among the different data sources that the project uses, the Arpa network stands out, which together with 8 monitoring systems installed in strategic points are able to obtain a large number of valuable information daily. All of this is possible thanks to the use of proprietary Iot technologies capable of collecting environmental data with high capillarity up to 1km2 and the use of artificial intelligence in-house AISI, which allows you to monitor the level of fine dust PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 to define Predictive Maintenance strategies. Therefore, even if such data, obtained with technologies not conforming to the decree, are not yet recognized by any certification, we believe that the quality of the same is important and we are working so that this is recognized at national level.
