Welcome back. You’re here, I’m here, and we’re wrapping up another week with a Culture Junky LinkedIn Exclusive.
Today, we’re going to be continuing our series on the latest company culture stats now that we’re through the halfway mark of the year.
So far, we’ve touched on the importance of recognition, and engagement, but today we’re going to be putting it all together and looking at how recognition and engagement can work hand in hand to fuel a best-in-class culture.
Today’s statistics come courtesy of Bonusly, and Gallup, who put out two incredibly important stats regarding recognition, engagement, and how they both impact culture.
According to Bonusly, 71% of organizations that fall into the “highly engaged” category make it a priority to recognize team members for doing well. On the flip side, 41% of organizations that fall into the “less engaged” category prioritize employee recognition.
The math here is simple. When you recognize the good work your team members do, it then comes back full circle and results in a more engaged culture.
Now, with that in mind we’re going to segue over to a related statistic from Gallup, which indicates that team members who are recognized for their work are 20 times more likely to be engaged than people who aren’t, or people who receive poor recognition.

Now, of course, it’s important to take note of areas where team members can do better so that they can improve, however, this stat makes it clear that it’s even more important to spend time recognizing people for great work.
If the focus of your organization is solely on identifying and correcting mistakes, the folks who don’t receive any recognition for their positive work are likely to fall by the wayside when it comes to engagement.
The stats paint a pretty clear picture here. Companies that have team members who are highly engaged put an emphasis on recognizing those who do a great job, which then in turn accounts for a massive uptick in engagement among team members who receive positive recognition.
So as we head into the weekend think about that. The Culture Junky sure will.
Be good to each other out there.
