The importance of Cyber Security in a technologically dependent society.

As the world evolves, we are becoming a society that is more technologically dependent than ever before every individual and organizations are going digital and migrating to the cloud, cyberattacks are also on the rise. People must consider how to protect themselves and their confidential data from such attacks.

In this article, I'd like to discuss the importance of cyber security and how it can help individuals protect their valuable assets, both tangible and intangible from cybercrimes.

Cyber Security is referred to as the protection of networks, devices and data from unauthorized access or criminal use and the practice of ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.

From using computer systems every day to the rise in cloud services, in today's fast-paced world, cyber security is essential for people and organizations that collect and store a wide range of confidential data on computers and transmit that to other computers across different networks. The internet has provided a wealth of learning opportunities, but there are risks too. Media and other personal information shared by an individual on social networking sites can be misused by others may lead to serious and even life-threatening incidents. Social networking sites have become the most popular way for people to share information and connect with one another. However, these sites have created a variety of opportunities for cybercrime, compromised personal identities, and data leakage. As a result, it is critical for individuals to understand how to protect themselves from cyber threats. To eliminate changes in cyber threats and thus create a safer online environment, one should learn how to protect computers and personal information from being hacked and engage in appropriate online behavior.

I wrote about this topic as someone passionate about the cyber industry and got introduced to it three years ago and has obtained certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and CEH from EC-Council. I hope people will become aware of all the threats and vulnerabilities that always exist when using a computer system and do research on how to protect themselves.
