The importance of connecting the dots

EPIC Tip

If you don’t connect the dots for others, they’ll draw their own conclusions - and they probably won’t match yours.

EPIC Thought

Success is about understanding where to connect the dots - between knowledge, leadership, and hard work. Only then can you drive real transformation.

EPIC Trivia

In January 2023, Rolling Stone named Aretha Franklin, the legendary singer, songwriter, and pianist, as the greatest singer of all time. Of the top five singers on their list, four were women, with Sam Cooke being the only male to make the cut. This recognition highlighted the immense talent of female artists.

Fast forward to 2024, and female artists made history in the UK by dominating the number one spot on the charts for 34 weeks, while in the U.S., six of the top ten most-streamed albums on Spotify were by women. These milestones demonstrate the power and profitability of female talent in the music industry.

Yet, for decades, systemic biases held women back, undervaluing their contributions and costing the industry billions in lost revenue. By not connecting the dots on the value of their female talent, the industry ignored significant financial returns.

Even today, these biases persist, continuing to undermine the full potential of the business. If the industry is serious about its future, it must address these disparities. Recognising and investing in female talent isn’t just a step toward equality - it’s a smart business move that drives profitability and growth.

Until next time,

Stay EPIC!!
