Importance of Communication in an organization

“Communication is the solvent of all problems and is the foundation for personal development.” -Peter Shepherd

Effective communication is extremely important not just between two people but also for an organization since it helps in boosting productivity, and maintains a strong bond between the administration and the employees at every level. I believe that the employers who dedicate their time along with energy for delivering the proper lines of communication have the capability of creating trust in the employees. This helps in maximizing the output, productivity as well as the morale in general.

According to reports, 57 percent of workers report not having clear directions and 69 percent of managers usually do not communicate easily with employees. From the figures, it is obvious that interaction in the workplace needs to be improved.

Power of Good Communication

‘Communication works for those who work at it’- John Powell

Improper communication in any organization, for any personal reasons or due to the lack of proper technology often causes the employees to lack motivation which leads to putting a question on their confidence level, especially on their abilities. It is the responsibility of the business leaders to effectively support communication among the employees so that the employees can remain motivated at all times. In every organization, communication helps in the effective flow of information which is necessary as it supports managerial effectiveness.

Workplace Communication

“To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world, and use the understanding as a guide to our communication with others.” -Anthony Robbins

If you ask me then before making sure that you are communicating with every employee and department of your organization, it is important to make sure that you know about the different purposes of communication. Effective communication is extremely important for any organization.

A woman decided to pray until an angel shows up. She was concentrating on praying so much that she became upset when someone tried to interrupt her and didn't even realize that it was the angel who came to meet her. Since the angel didn't get any response she left. So the moral of the story is that to ensure proper communication, it is necessary to listen before talking. If you listen to your employees and colleagues then you will be able to understand the problems they are facing and in this way, you will be able to solve them.

Communication is the Key to Organizational Success

‘Communication-the human connection- is the key to personal and career success.’- Paul J. Meyer

Making a good human relationship is one of the key benefits of communication, and I feel that when the managers communicate their ideas, perceptions, and thoughts with the workers, it helps to maintain a good relationship between the manager and the workers. This helps the managers to understand and express the potential problems which they face to support proper human relationships within an organization.

Innovative Communication

I always believe that communication must be innovative and unique, and only this will help you to be heard by others. You must have heard the story of the loneliest whale, a whale in the Pacific Ocean which sings at 52Hz is comparatively higher than the other whales. Quite automatically his singing is not recognized by the other whales, which leads to loneliness. So when you are beginning your business or job, you are unique in different ways, but make sure that your way of uniqueness should not seem confusing to others.

Helps in Increasing Productivity

‘A wind that blows aimlessly is no good to anyone’- Rick Jordan

In organizations with connected employees, productivity improves by up to 25 percent. Proper communication at work helps in maximizing productivity and also, the managers can properly understand the talent and skills of the workers. As a result, it helps in providing a proper direction to work effectively. This helps in increasing the turnaround time of any project.

Helps in Increasing Efficiency

‘Conscienceless efficiency is no match for efficiency quickened by conscience’- Kelly Miller

Poor communication never leads to better efficiency, and it also hampers the work quality. Lack of information often leads to mistakes. However, having clear instructions helps to avoid any kind of clarification as well as correction of any issues. Imagine if you are not communicating with any of your colleagues inside your workplace, what would you face? You would end up with wastage of time and resources. If you have a manager who does not communicate properly and then try to ask all the necessary questions to gather the important information necessary to finish any project. Effective communication with the management will help you to easily discuss any personal or professional issues which will keep you remain committed to the company.

Closing Thoughts

When communicating with the employees, make sure that the reasons and the examples that you are giving to your employees must have integrity. You might have heard the story about the boy who used to scream wolf, and how he fooled people. One day when a real wolf turned up, no one came to save him when he spoke the truth. If you ask me then I would say that maintaining the habit of good communication not only helps in connecting people but also solves the toughest problems easily. If connected properly, the employees would be inclined towards achieving the goals of the company and will gather a huge amount of motivation towards working. Additionally, the managers would also understand the different ways of making a work environment more satisfying. This will help the employees to maintain a proper balance in their work.

In the end, all I can say is, communication plays a vital role in bringing changes in the way an organization works. It not only helps in boosting the productivity of the organization but also develops a good relationship between the management and the employees as well.
