Importance of Colors in the Workplace

Colors are the most important aspects of everyday life, for it brings life to one's imagination and thinking ability. But, when we talk about interior design people tend to miss out on the color details so often even though it is proven in many studies that color plays a large role in a person’s psyche.

Researchers have stated that a spoonful of your favourite dessert could taste better (or worse) depending on the color of the dish it’s served in.  It’s astonishing how even minor details in our food habits can change our attitude towards it, as Homo-sapiens we probably are the only creatures walking on earth who can perceive this wide range of colors and what good is this sensation for if we are not integrating it in choosing our decor.

When it comes to interior designing also, colors play a major role to set the mood and tonality for the vibes that come out of space. If there is a black or navy blue fly in the home, we will probably find it a minor irritation, but if it has yellow stripes our reaction will be different – most of us will recoil. Colors influence human behaviour as well, like when we see the combinations of yellow and black stripes, suddenly a warm feeling rushes through us and our mood becomes mellow and light-hearted for a mini second, color has the power to change the working ability of individuals in a workspace.

No matter what type of office you have, it is likely that there are different spaces that serve different purposes. Maybe you have cubicles, conference rooms, or a break room.

Common areas are often painted with bright colors which make them a space for shared ideas and collaboration, while places for individual work and reflection usually use more subtle and softer colors.

Happy and comfortable employees mean that they will be more efficient and happier in the long run. Different colors or color schemes can change performance, engagement, and alertness in an office space.

It’s not just the color that makes an impact; the intensity of each is also important. So, regardless of the hue you opt for in your office design, remember that high intensity will stimulate, while low intensity will soothe
