The Importance of Celebrating Milestones

Last Friday 28th of July 2023, I was qualified 25 years as a Pharmacist, half my life! I remember my first day working on my own as a Pharmacist and it struck me how little I knew. In time I realised that every day is a learning day and this helped me to gain perspective in my life and career. My late Father, Caillin Conefrey MPSI was a Pharmacist and he started and ran Conefrey's Pharmacy in Pearse Street, Dublin 2 in 1955. He passed away in 1988 and I started working in the family business in January 1999.

Three things I have learned in the last twenty five years:

  1. Listen to your patients(customers) - this is advice from my Mother and it has always served me well.
  2. I have met so many people over the years, it has made me realise not to 'judge a book by it's cover'. Compassion and empathy are an essential skill to nurture in a pharmacy environment.

3. Having a good team around you is essential. Ongoing training and nurturing is necessary not just to keep-up but to excel in our business.

We are really really excited about the upcoming launch of our click and collect service in the Pharmacy, watch this space! If you have any queries please reach out, [email protected].

Well Tomas. When's the podcast. Can interview old timers like me who have alot to say off course with a wealth off experience. I have enjoyed many roles ad a pharmacist over more than thirty years. Retail, industry, hospital, more recently digital health. Recently gone back to my routes really helping most vulnerable in society. Working in the National Drug Addiction unit in city centre. Its rewarding as a pharmacist of all experiences but I feel at this stage in May career a chance to give back at such a lovely local level.Tomas I know this is you experience most days with locals you know so well. As pharmacists we do the same professional job every day.Thata the reward

Develop a clear and focused mindset, a quietly determined attitude, and an indomitable spirit, into a driving energy, a clear direction, and a resolute purpose.

There’s a warm sense of Human Interest in the tone of your newsletter. It’s something that seems to be slipping from our experience in the speed at which we live today. Well done.
