I've been thinking a lot about the collective obsession with fitness goals for the new year. But rarely do I see our brains included in those goals. Our brain fitness matters!

Why do I like brain exercises so much? It stimulates the brain's neural connections and helps stimulate neuroplasticity, allowing the brain to form new neural pathways.
The more you work out your brain, the healthier it’ll be. But like any gym membership, if you don’t use it, you’ll have a tough time hitting your fitness goals.

[personal note] If you watched the video already, then you know I have a soft spot for Crosswords. It is such a great way to challenge and exercise your brain!
They remind me of my grandma, who was OBSESSED with them and would fill out a booklet every other day, and she would always fill out the ones at the back of the newspaper. She was SHARP as a knife into her old age, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. I know she's smiling down at me now, seeing me get people to fall in love with crosswords as much as she did.
So in honor of her, I made a Christmas-themed crossword for you.
Brain exercises, such as crosswords or puzzles and any other problem-solving activities, encourage cognitive flexibility. This is the ability to adapt to new information and situations swiftly.
According to a study by the National Library of Medicine, cognitively-stimulating activities, specifically those related to playing games and puzzles, are beneficial to brain health and cognition.
