The Importance of Being Personal
Congrats on the anniversary! Hope you're doing well.
I admit it. I was flattered and impressed that my friends, colleagues, and former colleagues took time to say "congratulations" on my work anniversary...until I started getting the exact same well wishes from everyone. Don't get me wrong, the acknowledgement means a lot.
But, when you're sending a message by clicking a button, dozens of others are doing the same thing. And while it seems innocent enough, there's only so many times "Congrats on the anniversary! Hope you're doing well." has an impact. (Especially from people you just saw in the office earlier...)
I've done it, too. Just a click of the button and I'm on my way to the next "milestone" greeting. So, I'm taking a stand. If I can't reply with something more than hitting "send", then I'll wait until I can. Adding a personal touch makes all the difference in the world. I just have to make time to do so.
What's your take? I'd love to get your feedback.

8 年In this busy world, I think an acknowledgement is an acknowledgement myself. I appreciate that people even take the time to click the button. lol. And btw, congrats Todd!! :)

8 年Hi, Todd. I used to work at DMN - LOVE your company! I think a lot of us share your sentiment. I use those anniversary reminders as a way to reconnect if it makes sense.
