What is Air tightness?
Air tightness is defined as the window capability to prevent air from passing through it. This capability is measured on a scale, from class 1, less tightness, to class 4, higher tightness.
Why is air tightness important?
1. Air-tightness = moisture resistance
Good air-tightness is a protection for windows and doors with external insulation. When warm and moist air passes through a leak, it can, under certain conditions, condense on the cross-section of a window or door element, damaging the structure of the window or door, with a potential danger 100 times greater than that of a micro-osmotic transfer mechanism.
2. Air-tightness = Fireproof
In the event of a fire, heat and toxic gases can quickly diffuse into the room through unsealed door and window gaps. Therefore, the air-tightness of doors and windows is an important indicator when reviewing the fire rating of building components; the best fire protection structure will not help when fire or smoke spreads through the joints of building components.
3. Air-tightness = energy saving
Air-tight struc-tures are en-ergy ef-fi-cient. They en-sure that heat in-su-la-tion func-tions op-tim-ally. This re-duces heat-ing costs and CO2 emis-sions, pro-tect-ing the cli-mate and your wal-let alike.
4. Air-tightness = smog resistance
According to public health and building science experts, ordinary building windows and doors cannot keep PM2.5 out of a building. Good air-tightness not only affects a building's thermal insulation, moisture resistance, sound insulation, and fire resistance, but is also closely related to the shielding of harmful substances, and ensures the proper functioning of an effective ventilation system to optimize air quality and provide a healthier living space.(also protects against dust)
5. Air-tightness = Soundproofing
Good soundproof is dependent on air-tightness to achieve, if the sealing material is not selected, air-tightness is poor, then the soundproof effect will not be good, it will affect the quality of life at home.
