In my view, just applying new technologies on a weak process won't result in anything else than a "digitalized poor process"....
Before thinking of optimizing a process using automation, AI, analytics or other levers. We must ask ourselves two key questions:
First question is: do we still need to do this?
Legacy often plays an important role. We do it because we have done it for years...
Second question is: can we make it more efficiently or effectively?
The only focus should the outcome of the process. Implementing a new technology lever is very often the opportunity to rethink, optimize the process.
In addition, it is often required to redesign processes to fit with the context of the new technologies we apply. For example, getting the technology to alert the employees when it has produced the expected outcome
