Company: Aerotec Engines Implemented AvSight: May 2024

Aerotec Engines, a Canadian aviation powerhouse, has built their reputation on accuracy, fast turnaround times, and unmatched customer service. A family-owned business specializing in engine overhaul, repair, and exchange programs, Aerotec focuses on building lasting relationships with their customers. They attribute their success to treating each customer as their only customer.

This philosophy has enabled Aerotec to enjoy consistent growth, making modernizing operations essential. Replacing a patchwork of siloed programs with a comprehensive, aviation-focused ERP was the first step.

A Patchwork of Systems

Before transitioning to AvSight, Aerotec’s workflow was fragmented across multiple systems. Alanna Gauthier, Procurement Manager at Aerotec, recalls:

“I had to jump through three or four different screens, sometimes across two separate programs, just to get the history on a single part”

This disjointed approach not only slowed operations but also opened the door to errors—a significant risk in a high data volume MRO environment. With the added pressure of keeping pace with other industry players, Aerotec knew it was time for a change. “We saw partners and competitors reaping the benefits of ERP systems, and we didn’t want to get left behind,” says Gauthier.

Finding the Right Fit

Aerotec’s search for a new system was driven by two key priorities:

  • Comprehensive Functionality: The ideal solution needed to manage everything, from operations and inventory to sales and finance, in a unified platform.
  • Aviation-Specific Design: Rather than a generic solution, Aerotec needed an ERP built for the aviation industry. “We didn’t want to have to sit down with our implementers and explain what an exchange or an overhaul was,” explains Gauthier. “We wanted something really built for how we do business.”

These criteria led Aerotec to AvSight – a platform that met these requirements and fit their budget while providing real-time visibility into operations essential for handling complex processes like engine exchanges.

The AvSight Advantage

AvSight’s all-in-one platform replaced the patchwork of legacy systems. Aerotec now enjoys:

Unified Processes

No more switching between multiple applications. With every detail from operations and finance, to inventory centralized in one place, Aerotec is no longer dealing with siloed data or redundant data entry. Gauthier says “All the business functions are working together now. We’ve also reduced a lot of that manual data entry, and with that the opportunity for human error.

Enhanced Visibility and Real-Time Insights

With AvSight, getting the information they need is as simple as a click. Whether it’s tracing part histories or monitoring engine cores, everything is at their fingertips, allowing them to make decisions quickly and with confidence.

“Being able to run a report or access a single screen with all the necessary information has been a game changer for our team.” shares Gauthier.

Streamlined Processes

Speed matters, and AvSight has truly raised the bar. Tasks that used to take multiple steps and significant time now happen almost instantly, allowing Aerotec to issue parts 15 times faster than before.

Gauthier shares “AvSight Part Research has had a big impact on our efficiency. Previously,? if I needed to find out where a part came from, I would be hopping in and out of multiple programs. What would take me 10 clicks can now be done in a single screen with one click.”

Communication & Mobile Integration

Beyond process automation, AvSight’s built-in communication tools have transformed internal workflows. While Aerotec continues to use smartphones and emails for certain tasks, they have now integrated AvSight’s mobile capabilities. Allowing them to upload files straight from smartphones or instantly check work orders while in the shop. These capabilities have significantly improved efficiency and collaboration.

Next-Level Flexibility

With AvSight’s flexible and extensible platform, Aerotec has the flexibility to pivot as priorities evolve. “We have a bird’s eye view of exactly what we need with AvSight,” Gauthier explains. “It makes it easy to move critical jobs to the front of the line and reallocate parts as necessary.”

This flexibility has also allowed Aerotec to scale their business and add additional capabilities without added costs. “We can now ramp up production without adding extra staff, which is a huge advantage as we continue to grow,” says Gauthier.

A Strategic Collaboration for Growth

Aerotec’s journey with AvSight represents much more than a simple technological upgrade, it’s a strategic transformation. The integration has not only streamlined operations but also established a robust framework for scaling production without a proportional increase in costs.

With direct access to parts through established manufacturer relationships and a dedicated sales team fluent in the intricacies of the aviation market, Aerotec is now a one-stop shop for their clients. Faster turnaround times and consistent delivery of information have significantly improved customer satisfaction and solidified long-term partnerships.

What’s Next?

With AvSight as their operational backbone, Aerotec is equipped for continued innovation and growth. The transition to a comprehensive ERP system has not only enhanced current efficiencies but also laid the groundwork for tomorrow’s innovation. As Aerotec continues to fine-tune their processes and explore new capabilities within AvSight, the sky is truly the limit.
