Last Saturday, we had an insightful webinar with Rikk "Nerd Thor" Woolls , the Founder of Content Vikings and a seasoned Content Strategist. Rikk shared his experience in devising content strategies for various organizations, including Fortune 100 companies and influencers with large followings. He is working on a system to help content creators on LinkedIn enhance their content strategy from ideation to copywriting to maximizing performance.

1- Implement AI in content creation from a system design perspective.

Rikk emphasized the critical importance of approaching AI integration strategically. Rather than viewing AI as a magic solution that can solve all of the problems, he advocated for first designing a robust content system without AI. This approach allows you to identify specific areas where AI can truly enhance your process.

For example, Rikk shared a case study of a podcast production company. They first mapped out their entire workflow - from idea generation to content distribution - without considering AI. Only then did they analyze where AI could fit in to optimize specific tasks.


2- Content creation with AI extends far beyond simple "idea to content" generation.

Viewing AI as merely a tool for turning ideas into content is limiting its potential. There needs to be a deeper AI strategy involved in every aspect of content production to maximize the outcome, in every channel or content system.

Rikk provided several examples:

  • SEO Enhancement: Beyond creating content from keywords, AI can analyze high-performing competitor blog posts and repurpose them into various content styles, giving you a competitive edge.

  • Webinar and Podcast Production: AI's transcription capabilities can transform long-form content into multiple short-form blog posts and social media content, maximizing the value of each piece of content you produce.

Therefore, being opened to more possibilities with AI, experimenting, and learning over time to explore its potential is of crucial importance.

Getting advice from experts who have experimented with implementing the system in other organizations is also a great approach. You can also get references from use cases adopted by MindPal's community of users in MindPal's Guide For Marketing.

3- Develop mechanical sympathy with LLMs to experiment with use cases, and achieve superior results over time.

Rikk mentioned "mechanical sympathy with LLMs" when approaching content strategy with AI - understanding how it works to get the best out of it. He emphasized that expecting perfect content from AI on the first try is unrealistic. Instead, success with AI requires patience, experimentation, and continuous refinement.

Key points to remember:

  • Context is crucial: Provide clear, detailed instructions to guide the AI's output.
  • Iterative process: Be prepared to go through several drafts, tweaking your prompts each time.
  • Evaluate and adjust: Critically assess the AI's output and use those insights to improve your instructions to your AI.

By developing this mechanical sympathy, you'll be able to fine-tune your interactions with AI over time, resulting in increasingly high-quality content that aligns with your brand voice and strategic goals.

4- Consider AI as a reasoning engine, not a knowledge database.

Rikk shared valuable insights on leveraging AI's reasoning abilities, not a knowledge database, to enhance content creation. You can use AI to explore different angles on a topic, draw connections between disparate pieces of information, generating unique insights for your content. Don't expect AI to provide accurate information without your proper input or clear expectations of what you are looking for.
