The Imperial Presidency in the Age of Trump

Today, the American Enterprise Institute hosted me, Sai Prakash, Amity Shlaes, and Jeffrey Tulis to discuss the Imperial Presidency in the Age of Trump. AEI's Gary Schmitt pulled the panel together and moderated.

I argued that Trump's executive orders so far have been far more modest than the political controversies generated. They seek to stop the ship of state from sailing in the Obama direction, but have not done the harder work of turning it to the right. It is in foreign affairs, where the President has far more unilateral power, that we will see a faster shift to a Trump agenda.
