"Imperfect Enough" - an eye-opener

How fortunate am I! Last night I was gifted surprise tickets to attend "Imperfect Enough" as an early birthday present from my children. Put to one side that I am an avid, long-term Richmond Football Club member. This gift was a public "on the couch Q&A" session with Trent Cotchin, Richmond's Captain, about the challenges he has faced and worked to overcome since September 2016. Strangely, the Q&A was very little about football and mostly about a man learning to deal with life's "public" challenges as his life journey unfolds. Trent's story is not mine to tell, but his openness, vulnerability, challenges, reflections, outreach, strategies and some life lessons resonated well with me and with his appreciative audience.
Not my role to summarize the many valuable take-aways here but I drove away from Deakin University in Geelong with a sense of awe and inspiration, having experienced a values-driven man, a gentleman, a devoted family man, humble, vulnerable, courageous, grateful, resilient and keen to share his life journey if it will assist others to cope better or to thrive in their lives. Let go of the things in life that you cannot control or that are holding you back!
Having suffered my own challenges over the past 12 months, I am very grateful for all the blessings I have in my life, for my family, for their love and belief and for inviting me to attend "Imperfect Enough" - what an eye-opener! #trentcotchin #imperfectenough #lifeslessons #letgoofwhatyoucannotcontrol #RFC #gratefulness #sammcclure
