Impatience in these days

In a VUCA world (Volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) we have an almost instantaneous and natural attitude of acting and reacting quickly, and in the same way we also expect the results of our actions quickly.

Analyzing carefully, it is not a big problem to expect quick results from a specific action adapted to the situation. But it can be a problem when we become impatient with expected reactions, or even become anxious for things to happen more quickly.

It is a fact that we need to have a consistent results from the actions carried out, and it is even more important to have a clear method and KPIs to evaluate these results. But it is also a fact that we need to give time for actions to settle in order to fully understand all the consequences of this specific action made.

Some of the consequences of our actions come in the very short term, others in the short and medium term, and we cannot forget that we will have consequences in the long term, and this also needs to be considered.

Impatience often comes from not considering that results mature over time, or that analyzes and KPIs can only be accessed over a longer period of time.

We have to deal with this impatience and anxiety to see results quickly by planning what we have to expect in the short, medium and long term, and understanding that an action has a domino effect, and only at the end of the entire process with the all fallen pieces we will be able to see the final results.

My invitation here is to breathe, analyze, plan and act in an adapted and quick way, but the wait period to see the results also needs to be planned.
